"Why wait? The squirrel beats his torch-tail
on the pine tree's bark.
The half-moon with its peak sinks down
into the sun that snuffs it out. It's day."

The colors are wonderful in this shot. You know, if the squirrel is perfectly camouflaged.

Hi Gary I know they are pests that drive out the smaller red squirrels but they do add some interest to the landscape and I do leave out a nut or two.

Hi Sandy Normally we have the black variety in Calgary but I really love the shading on these.

I have some of these little guys hanging around my yard and gobbling up the bird seed! When I put it out of reach, they scamper up the tree and scold me! The war is on!

p.s. I have both red and gray squirrels here in Andover, MA.

Hi Kathie We had a red squirrel in a spruce tree next to our kitchen window in one apartment. It would hang on the screen and chatter at us if we moved around. But they are still cute.
