Wednesday I was taking some photos at a
lovely pond with ducks and geese and it looked
like spring. Wednesday night 6 inches of heavy
wet snow with lots of slush and we were back
to a winter wonderland.

Thursday I dropped by the pond a little
after seven. One brave feathered icebreaker
was making some paths.

Some folks were just looking iconic.

I went back at lunch.  It looks like interpretive
dance has broken out

And back in the parking lot some of us
are still sprucing up for spring.

" Calling softly to the fixed lakes

As earth gets up in the frosty dark, at the back of the Pole Star
And flies into dark
Through the precarious crack of light

Quacking Wake Wake"

Even though winter returned, the hormones must be flowing to judge by the brawling geese. Love your rabbit photo - had a special meaning for me as I just finished re-reading Watership Down.

Oh, but you got some great shots. Spring snow may be irritating, but it looks good. I love the second shot.

Hi Hilke Yes both the ducks and geese were getting very territorial and the snow did not discourage it very much. The jackrabbits had been gathering in larger groups before the snow. They seem fairly solitary towards the end of winter but you see groups in the spring. I am not sure if they finished mating or the snow dimmed their ardour. Normally we have a lot of mad as March hare running about which I have not seen yet.

Watership Down was a great book.

I am glad you liked the photo.

Hi Sandy

I am glad you like the photo. I actually enjoyed the chance to compare the activity on the two days and I expected more snow before spring.

Oh, brrr.
Wonderfully white images.
As much as I'm sure you must be ready for the spring the rest of the continent has started to experience, it is so lovely to see the nothing but white.
Just lovely.
