"We live in secret cities
And we travel unmapped roads.

We speak words between us that we recognize
But which cannot be looked up.

They are our words.
They come from very far inside our mouths.

You and I, we are the secret citizens of the city
 Inside us, and inside us"

Horse in the Country

"On the high prairie
are only horse and rider
wind in dry grass
clopping in silence under the toy mountains"

Laraine's horses

More snow last night but let's fire up the Tardis for a trip back in time. From November, Laraine's horses. And one of my favourite poems by one of my favourite poets.

"To-night the very horses springing by
Toss gold from whitened nostrils. In a dream
The streets that narrow to the westward gleam
Like rows of golden palaces; and high
From all the crowded chimneys tower and die
A thousand aureoles. Down in the west
The brimming plains beneath the sunset rest,
One burning sea of gold."

"How innocent their lives look,
how like a child’s
dream of caves and winter, both combined;
the steep descent to whiteness
and the stope
with its striated walls
their folds all leaning as if pointing to
the great whiteness still,
that great white bank
with its decisive front,
that seam upon a slope,
salt’s lovely ice."

Dowg gone, thats a lot of snow.

"Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea;
Tracing one warm line through a land so wild and savage
And make a Northwest Passage to the sea."

SNOW AGAIN

"Time does not pass when snow is falling -
only the silence falls. Trees glisten, trembling
as a body trembles beneath a white sheet,
the room cold, shock of warm hands,"

from The Snow
by Bruce Meyer

Each month this winter has seemed to start with a big snow fall and March is no exception. However snow is relatively easy to cope with.

And some of us are more prepared than others.

Of starlight, thunder snow, rock and icy comets, scrolls
Of clouds;"
